The teaching and administration staff at Cairns Hinterland Steiner School are dedicated individuals who are committed to providing a quality, holistic educational journey for all the children enrolled in the school. All teachers hold State qualifications as a minimum requirement for employment. Teachers are employed based on their commitment to the philosophical underpinnings of a Steiner school, their ability to work within, and help create a supportive and Collegial working environment, and their commitment to ongoing and life-long professional and personal development. Teacher applicants are required to complete a literacy and numeracy test, supply several pieces of reflective writing, spend time in the classroom with a senior teacher and teach a demonstration lesson.
All teachers have a mentor to support them. The school allocates a significant budget annually for teacher development and all staff, including administrative and teacher support staff are encouraged to participate in various on- and off-site professional and personal development opportunities.
Teachers recognise the importance of close and supportive parent/teacher relationships and actively work to promote positive relationships with the families of the children in their care.
